A new theme, structured product data and a worker with Shopify Functions and AI product creation

The collaboration

Hej Holger sells kitchen and home goods across a large range at low prices. We built their new Shopify theme and the data structure and automation underneath it. Everything deploys through GitHub with a staging theme and automatic theme checks, so nothing reaches the live store without being validated first.

Product data that is actually useful

Tens of thousands of product specifications, accessory relations and warranty labels moved into structured metaobjects and metafields. Colour and size groups connect variants across products, and the warranty label appears automatically on the right items.

Automation and discounts without third-party apps

A worker app on Railway runs the store’s jobs: popular right now, frequently bought together, quantity discounts and data maintenance. The quantity discount is a Shopify Function in a dedicated app, so the discount is applied in checkout without a subscription app. Klaviyo flows for back-in-stock notifications and abandoned carts are wired directly into the theme.

AI in daily operations

The team creates products with help from Claude through an MCP endpoint in the worker app. The AI works within fixed boundaries with a change log and never gets direct access to the store’s keys.

Ready for more markets

The theme is prepared for Swedish and German with every string in locale files, and the free-shipping threshold is managed in one place and shown everywhere.
